All the pictures I get on Yahoo Picture Share are blurry?

Even the ones I send to friends are blurry.

This may or may not be the answer, but someone in the know told me that when digital photos are changed in any way, they become blurry.  That means cropping, changing color levels, contrast, size or 'auto fixing'.  I put some photos on my web site and they did look less clear after 'fixing' than when I uploaded them from my camera.  I could use some help understanding resolution and pixel content.
