All the right reasons for Arsene Wenger to leave Arsenal – English Premier League debate
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 has everything going wrong for them. Sad part for Arsene Wenger is that it is all hurling towards him.
Arsenal chief executive, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivan-c17215 Gazidis, has given Wenger the complete backing of the board. But Gazidis reiterates that Wenger will have to leave if the fans turn against him. That is a silent drubbing for the French Arsene Wenger.
Wenger has not been able to earn silverware for the display shelf at the Emirates stadium. The last time it happened was in 2005 when Arsenal won the FA cup. Fans are running out of patience. It is even taking a toll on the players who have frozen mentally on all important occasions recently.
To anger the supporters even more, Arsenal may start the season without their stars http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360, Cesc Fabregas and Gael Clichy. They would rather see Wenger’s back than let their small lineup of big names be tampered with.
Deep down Wenger probably realizes the same. It is unlikely that he will leave this summer; the pressure on the bosses is not yet surmountable enough. He may even be looking for a last hurrah and bow out on a high. He will have to pick himself up first and dust himself down.
"The players have been outstanding all season. If there is somebody to blame, it is me," said Wenger.
That is enough a reason for him to go now. The fans will argue. All he has contributed to is to create great players. He takes them in cheap and young and turns them around. Others pay a high price and make up for the years that Wenger spent on them to nurture them. He is a lousy buyer. He is under immense pressure to spend this summer. Arsenal’s net spends averages around £2 million per player. That is paltry and beyond any mention at all.
He has to go. The writing is on the wall. But the people who matter do not seem to read it at all. Maybe, they just choose to ignore.
Wenger has not been as effective with the team build up as he might have been in the past. He saw the team to three finals and three semi-finals which was a much decent outing as compared to 2010/11 season. He has not been able to mentor one true leader. The Gunners have a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314. Fabregas is frustrated, anguished and mentally fatigued – a good time to let go as well. With all the good players looking to leave Wenger’s chances of having any consolations in his last attempt with Arsenal will cease to exist as well.
Why not leave now and be at least respected for the show of character?
Can he take the team out of the mentally frozen state it is in, turn them around and still perform with a team that is more than likely to be without much sparkle?
He excuses himself with absence of tall players in his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. That is totally unforgettable.
Wenger is looked at as a stubborn manager. He does not have the answers anymore. His stint with Highbury was far more fruitful. He actually knew back then. He was practical. He had direction.
Arsene Wenger needs direction himself. It needs to be directed outside the Emirates Stadium and away from anything and everything that has to do with Arsenal.
This one is for the fans.
