When foot and mouth infected cattle in England does anyone think that the mass slaughter of these animals was not neccessary? Also The culling of Badger's inorder to stop cattle being infected with T.B

does not seem fair badger's are a part of Britian indeginious wildlife and Cattle are not.

Its a bit like fisherman killing seals and cormerates they eat what they need to survive, we on the other hand are dreging the oceans and damaging the sea beds which is doing a lot more harm than the seals could ever do to fish stocks. I think the big trawlers should be made illegal and let the small fisherman out to catch fish as they are not doing anything near the same type of damage.

  1. Hi

Well said, I couldn't agree more.

    Ray. West York's. U.K.

  2. I absolutely agree- it's corporate greed and mono-cultures that ruin farming.

It's cobblers we'd pay more- as farmer's markets are proof small businesses can provide superior product for cheaper.

Where I live in Indonesia- all farming is small business- the distribution part is corporate.

Killing marine creatures because they have the gall to also eat fish? What nonsense- here we have massive scale commercial aquaculture.

I'm about to get into a lobster farming business soon myself- and it's 50 km away from the sea.

  3. Britain has a huge export market,No animal that has been infected and cured(drugs)Would be allowed in to other countries so every animal has to be clean or no one wants it.Shambo had TB so it had to be killed to prevent any other animal or human to catch it.In the world there are six billion people 40% rely on fish for their daily food intake.Nuff said me thinks.

  4. I agree with you, but corporate business wouldn't and people don't like paying more for food, which would be the consequence of banning the trawlers, so they would be unlikely to be on your side.

Keep trying though one day we'll get through to them.

  6. i like beef

  7. Hear, hear I am in total agreement with you. I am a vegetarian and do not understand why we need to deplete the world. The mass slaughter was not necessary and nor is the need for these large trawlers. Perhaps if we went back to more traditional fishing and farming methods the world would be a nicer place. Leave nature alone it does not need our interference, survival for wildlife is difficult enough as it is!

  8. God save the animals, please.

  9. Badger culling has nothing to do with TB. It was a ploy by DEFRA  to appease the farming community after foot and mouth. In fact badgers have been scientifically proven not to be carriers! I don't have the reference but it was done by Spanish researchers.
