Alla Kudryavtseva defeats Vitalia Diatchenko in second round – Tashkent Open 2011
The two compatriots contesting against each other in the second round of the Tashkent open were; number six seeded Alla Kudryavtseva against unseeded Vitalia Diatchenko. After battling out for 1 hour and 51 minutes, Kudryavtseva
won the match by surviving a mid match slip of 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 on hard courts of the Olympic School Tennis Courts, Tashkent.
After winning the toss, Kudryavtseva opened the score board to 1-0 by smashing two successive aces and without much opposition from Diatchenko.  In the second game she went on to break her opponent as Diatchenko back hand went
into the net and she double faulted. During the third game Diatchenko prayed for Kudryavtseva to commit and double fault so she could break back and she did! In the fourth game Diatchenko again double faulted and endorsed Kudryavtseva with a game. In the fifth
game as she held her serve she took the lead of 5-1. By the seventh game Diatchenko’s backhand went wayward and she again endorsed a game to Kudryavtseva   to secure her lead of 5-1. As she served for the set, she held her served and bagged the first set.
Diatchenko assisted Kudryavtseva in winning the opening set as she had double faulted numerous times. However, Kudryavtseva smashed 2 aces and won 82 percent of her first service points.
Opening the second set was Diatchenko and as the two players held serve for the first five games the score was rounded off at 3-2 with Diatchenko being a game up.  The younger Russian (Diatchenko) was first to break as Kudryavtseva
came under pressure and double faulted and by holding her serve in the fifth game she was leading 5-2. During the eighth game Diatchenko was looking to break the elder Russian in order to bag the set and in a reversal of fate Diatchenko broke her opponent
to bag the second set.
By the end of the second, the players each had bagged a set and serving for the determining set was again Diatchenko. During the first three games Diatchenko had taken the lead, as she broke her opponent in the second game and
by holding her serve in the third was rounding the score at 3-0.
However, Kudryavtseva was not ready throw in the towel and jumped back after the initial jitters. By holding her serve and breaking her adversary she eventually rounded the score to 3-3 in the sixth game.  In the seventh game Kudryavtseva
again broke Diatchenko and as she held her serve in the eighth, she was two breaks up. Hoping to conquer the match and the set, she hit a back hand winner at 40-love and established that she was a better player.
Once she had achieved her victory, Kudryavtseva was ecstatic as she had qualified into the quarter final, where she will square off with Sorana Cirstea.
