http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Anthony-Donald-c43680 rejects Kiwi offer in order to work with Gary Kirsten
Overpowered with patriotic passion, Allan Donald, the former Proteas pacer, has kicked aside an offer for a bowling coach job by New Zealand Cricket (NZC).
Donald will be looking to render his professional http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Services-c840 for his own country and is likely to assist the newly appointed South African coach, Gary Kirsten.
Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, which is severely lacking in the bowling department, requested Donald to sign a permanent contract with them as a bowling coach but the legend refused point blank.
However, Donald has worked with the team for three months.
Commenting on Donald’s reaction, NZC Chief Executive, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Justin-Thomas-Caldwell-Vaughan-c69731 said, “We did everything possible to retain Allan but it is understandable that a role in South Africa would be attractive to both him and his family.”
Donald’s home team has gone to dogs after its failed World Cup campaign. The captain has resigned and the coach is still to take charge. The board is stumbling with internal disputes and the team has been deprived of public support and commercial sponsorships.
The former fast bowler is h**l-bent to work with the Proteas and perk them up once again.
He would like to work under http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527 who has just resigned from Team India’s coachship to spend time with his family in South Africa.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has been pressing Gary hard to fill in the vacuum.
The 44-year-old Donald retired from the international cricket in 2003, after playing 72 Tests and 164 ODIs for South Africa. His bowling averages had been 22.25 and 21.78 in Test and ODI cricket respectively.
As Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-Willem-Steyn-c52130, Donald wants to enhance the Proteas’ bowling strength, which he thinks, plays a key role in any team’s success in the long run.
After their World Cup demise, the only hope for South Africa cricket is the upcoming home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Some analysts suggest that if the Proteas win that series, they are likely to regain their lost pride and privileges. However, if they lose, cricket will be doomed in the country for a indefinite period of time.
