He made it clear to the national bowlers that only those competitors, who have a strong temperament and quality to fight till the last ball, will be able to secure their place in the side.
"The training ground is meant to be the most hostile. That's where it must all happen so when the captain goes in the match, he will be absolutely sure of what everyone can give him," Donald said.
While Cricket South Africa (CSA) recently appointed Gary Kirsten as the head coach for the next couple of years, Donald was given the responsibility to train South African bowlers.
The former, Bloemfontein-born paceman, who was earlier offered a coaching position by the Black Caps, was almost ready to accept the position before Kirsten stepped into the matter and convinced him to shoulder the responsibility for his native side.

"It starts with the A team. That's where the message must get across so that the players aren't scared and know what international cricket is about. I want the younger guys to punch a hole into the line-up and not just sit and wait for their turn," added
the 44-year-old former fast bowler.
The South African side suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011 mostly due to a lacklustre performance by the bowlers.
However, the coach is optimistic to bring an improvement in the bowling department and to train with the existing Steyn-Morkel pair to improve their mental approach towards the game.
