West Ham United’s manager, Sam Allardyce has gone on to back Andy Carroll, as he feels the player is already proving his worth at the club, despite him failing to score for the team so far.
The striker went on to join the Hammers as part of a loan deal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, and so far he has become a prime part of the West Ham squad.
In his last outing for the team, the forward went on to win a free kick and penalty for the Hammers, and both those set pieces led to goals for the team.
As a result, Allardyce is confident that Carroll is going to end up scoring sooner rather than later, but he is still quite happy with the contributions that he is making for the team.
“Andy will score sooner or later. But it is not about him scoring, it is about us winning,” Allardyce told reporters.
“He is still a young man and he has a lot of improving to do. But he is such an important player for us already. As the old saying goes, if the front man plays well, the team plays well.”
The West Ham United manager also went on to claim that the referees needed to be a little more understanding when Carroll was fouled. He did however praise the officials over the decisions they made in the team’s last game, as he felt they didn’t make any
biased decisions. Instead they treated Carroll like a normal player, despite his physical size.
He added: “I think it is unfair that referees sometimes don’t take his side in sympathy terms because he is such a big lad.”
“But at least the referee actually gave the free kicks the right way when he was getting fouled continually.”
Carroll has looked much sharper at West Ham than he did during his time with Liverpool. In fact, many feel that the confidence boost that he has gotten at West Ham has helped the player’s international career as well.
It is now a wait to see just how far Carroll can take West Ham, and if he can help them stay afloat in the league or not.
