The 29-year-old was sent off for a challenge on Baines in his side’s 2-1 defeat against Everton, but the FA has now overturned the red card, and the West Ham boss has expressed his delight over the justice.
West Ham United manager, Sam Allardyce, has expressed his joy over Carlton Cole’s availability for his side’s upcoming English Premier League game against Reading at Madejski Stadium on Saturday, December 29.
The 29-year-old striker received his marching orders following a challenge on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 on Boxing Day. The Hammers appealed against the referee’s decision, and the Football Association (FA) has now overturned
the red card.
Although, the 58-year-old tactician has expressed his delight over getting justice, he has also expressed his discontent over the original decision that cost his side the game.
“I believe we lost what would have at least been a point. I am convinced that we wouldn't have lost the game against Everton if we'd had Carlton on the field and it had remained 11 against 11. I am delighted that we have probably got a bit of justice as
it deserved to be turned around”, Allardyce said while talking to reporters.
The former Newcastle United boss went on to admit that it would have been a big loss for his side if the FA did not overturn the suspension, as the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 striker then would have sat out his suspension for three games.
“There was never any doubt in my mind. The way he is playing at the moment it would have been a massive loss for us”, Allardyce added.
The 29-year-old, who has been plying his trade at Upton Park since the summer of 2006, has played a key role in his side’s consistent performances for the past few weeks, especially in the absence of Andy Carroll.
And the English trainer has admitted that his side could not have afforded to lose their main player due to suspension.
“He's been outstanding for us since Andy Carroll got injured and we didn't want to miss a player of his importance for the next three very important games”, Allardyce concluded.
The Hammers will play against Reading before taking on Norwich City on January 1, and then Sunderland on January 12.
