Question:

(Alleged) sightings of Madeleine McCann

Do you think these "sightings" are genuine, or do you think that the people claiming to have "seen" Madeleine are just after 5 minutes of fame? I think that anyone claiming to have seen her should be required to take a lie detector test, if they have nothing to hide and are telling the truth, then the lie detector test will show no deception indicated, at least it will separate the ones that are desperate for their five minutes of fame, and the people who are really convinvced they have seen Madeleine. Incidentally, in my opinion (for what its worth) I don't believe any of the sightings are genuine.

  1. Selling newspapers (again).

  2. Sadly I think you are right and now I believe that EVERYONE from the parents, friends, witnesses, police, and priests invloved in the case should be forced to take a lie detector test. It's the only way we will ever get to hear the truth and any slight justice for Maddy.

  3. It was supposedly caught on cctv in a bank so I guess they can check from that.

  4. i sadly agree x

  5. I t does seem unlikely especially with all the coverage this case receives.

  6. All this unwanted notoriety must be especially heartrending for those who loved the little girl. ♥ ∞

  7. I for the life of me cant understand WHY? none of these people didnt approach the adults with the child if it was a mistake any GENUINE parents would understand ,anyone with something to hide would act in a different way and would therefore draw suspicion surely!!!

  8. One can only hope.  She would have changed during the year she has been missing.

A person would have to be really sick to falsify a statement, but I suppose such people do exist.

Should she be found alive and well she could probably be damaged by the whole experience, but better that than the awful alternative.

It must be heart wrenching for her family, impossible to imagine what they are going through.

  9. There are a lot of cranks out there but I think the gutter press has a lot to answer for too!

  10. i think people genuinely think they have seen her

but then again for two million quid you would think they would make more of an effort to find out

of course the man explained her exactly the whole world could do that

i think they are all hoaxes and mitchell is using them for spin

  11. These people are crackpots probably being paid to invent their "sightings". The latest one is a man working in Venezuela says he spotted Maddy in a restaurant with 3 women .He said he had a good look at the child and spotted the defect in her eye. Did he grab the child or alert the police ? NO of course not, he said he would inform the UK police when he returned home. What a load of old eyewash !!! And some people actually believe these head cases !!!!!! Next Maddy will have been spotted on Mars eating Milky Ways with some alien being and some folks will believe it. This child is dead and has been from day one. Bring out the video of Eddie and Keela and let the McCanns spin that .

  12. I would hope they were genuine as thats a very pathetic thing to do otherwise. It's very difficult to identify someone and be certain if you don't know them, and although every lead should be followed, people need to be careful, as everytime there is a potential siting, the McCann's build their hopes up once more. I can only imagine how tiring this must be for them.

It's such a sad story, and i really feel for the McCann's. I truly hope that she is found safe and well and returned to her family.

  13. I don't believe a word of it. A lot of 4 yr old girls from northern europe look like Madeline.

  14. So should we ignore these alleged sightings? Neither you nor I know for sure that these claims are false so how can anybody ignore them?

It's up to the police to check on them and decide if they are real or not and not for us to make judgements from afar.

  15. I don't believe a single word that's printed in the papers. It's all sensationalist c**p.

  16. Don't you realise it's all about selling newspapers, They are all after money nothing more, if they were so convinced and they were genuine they would have done something there and then when they had seen the child.

  17. I believe many of these people are sincere. However, they could have made a mistake when they thought it was her.
