Allegri admits his team’s performance against Juventus was ‘worst of the season’ thus far
A.C Milan manager, Massimiliano Allegri, has slammed his team’s showing against Juventus as their worst performance of the season thus far.
The Italian Champions slumped to a 2-0 defeat after two late strikes from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Marchisio-c9312 in the dying minutes of the game.
Allegri believes that his team fell into the trap of the opposition and were completely outplayed. The manager is ruing the mistakes his team made during the later stages of the game and believes that they deserved to be on the losing side.
Allegri said, “Juve certainly played very well and tonight we weren’t up to the task, as we made a lot of mistakes in the one-on-ones. It’s a shame to concede so late in the day, but Juventus deserved it,
The 44-year-old added that his team played poorly in all departments of the game and it is all down to fatigue. Milan have been playing with the same bunch of players for the past one and a half month due to injury crisis and Allegri feels that it is taking its toll on their performances.
“Juventus deserved it, Milan played badly, it’s only normal that after a month and a half with the same players always having to take to the field, fatigue will set in. There is absolutely nothing to worry about.Seeing as we were tired and knew Juve would put on the pressure, we wanted to keep hold of possession, but couldn’t do it."
The manager praised on his counter-part’s tactics and believes that his team was stagnant in the midfield against the likes of Andrea Pirlo and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arturo-Vidal-c6760. The Rossoneri lacked the pace in the midfield and failed to dominate the possession.
The former Cagliari boss commented that he saw his team’s worst performance of the season in this game as they played far better in the defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 few weeks back.
The Defending Champions will welcome the international break as it will give them a chance to welcome some of their injured stars before their next game against Palermo on October 15th, 2011.
