The Rossoneri head coach stated that his side gave their all in the second-leg of the Coppa Italia, and he could not have asked for more from his players.
The San Siro outfit entered the match with a deficit to overcome from their endeavours in the first-leg at the Giuseppe Meazza.
Milan were trailing 2-1, and were travelling to the Juventus Stadium. The match was a spectacle to behold as the two Italian powerhouses fought to get the upper hand. The Diavolo forced extra-time by replicating
the Juventus score-line at San Siro.
However, the Bianconeri went through to the finals of the Coppa Italia after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mirko-Vucinic-c26024 scored a wonder goal. Allegri praised the opponents, stating that they were more clinical in their finishing, and
scored at the first opportunity.
He further added:
“I am happy with the performance, Juventus played well and punished us at the first chance.”
The former Cagliari manager further went on to state that his players were probably outdone by the extra time and he had to deploy players who had not been playing regularly, further adding:
“Extra time really weighed on us and I used players who hadn’t featured in a while. It’s a shame, because the lads really could not have done any more. In extra time we were no longer able to pressure up
the field and Mirko Vucinic scored a fantastic goal.”
Milanello’s star striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029, got substituted by Maxi Lopez at the 45 minute mark. Ibra had been a doubt going into the match as he was under the weather, but he still started the match. As
he was unable to make much difference in the proceedings, Allegri felt it better to give the Swede some rest.
While discussing his decision to substitute, the Rossoneri tactician added:
“He went off due to a back problem. Maxi Lopez had a wonderful game, as on top of the goal he fought hard and can also play alongside Ibra.”
The goal scored by the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player would definitely boost his confidence. Lopez will be hoping to add more goals to his tally for selection in the quarter-final against Barcelona.
