The Rossoneri boss frustrated with the draw against Bologna; refusing to give up on title race and believes the deserving team will lift the crown
AC Milan manager, Massimiliano Allegri, has refused to surrender the Scudetto despite seeing his team trail Juventus by three points.
Milan were held to a 1-1 draw by a resurgent Bologna side, while Juve cruised to an emphatic 4-0 win over AS Roma on Sunday, April 22nd. With only five matches left to play in the league season, the Turin giants are
now favourites to win the 2011/12 Serie A.
However, Allegri insists that his team will fight until the last match of the season to retain their crown. The Rossoneri tactician is ruing the dropped points against Stefano Pioli’s men, but feels that things could have been
much worse had it not been for Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s last minute equaliser.
The former Cagliari boss has urged his players to win their remaining matches of the season, and put pressure on the Old Lady.
While talking to the reporters, Allegri enthused:
“We had to get the points this afternoon. In the second half the team believed and created many chances. Unfortunately we were unable to win. If Juventus win tonight against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, then they have a great chance of winning the Scudetto.
If they do not, then it’s all the same as it was before.”
“Do Milan deserve the title? If we finish above Juve, then yes. If Juventus finish the season in front then they’ll deserve it, but nothing is decided yet. Don’t forget not even second place is mathematically secure either. Now
we have to win the next game.”
Milan were in a comfortable position of defending their league title a month ago, as they had a four-point lead over Antonio Conte’s side. However, since their exit from Europe, Milan have dropped too many points for their liking.
Allegri would be hoping for an upturn in fortunes, as his team will host struggling Genoa in their rescheduled game of round 33. The Diavolo will also be keeping an eye on the result of Juve’s respective midweek game, as they
will travel to bottom placed, Cesena.
