Allegri warns his team against complacency and demands a win against BATE: UCL news
A.C Milan manager, Massimiliano Allegri, has warned his troops not to take BATE Borisov lightly in their UEFA Champions League tie against them.
The Italian Champions will take on the Belarusian Champions at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday, 19 October 2011. Milan atop the Group H with 4 points from the two games played thus far. On the other hand, BATE have picked
up just one point from their two matches.
Allegri believes that his team must take the game seriously as a win in this game is very important to finish top of the group. The tactician has warned his team of the opponent’s strengths and admitted that BATE are a strong defensive
unit and they can hurt any side on the counter attack.
The 44-year-old has urged his team to stick to the basics and take an intensive approach to the game.
While talking to the reporters, Allegri said, “If we want to finish first in the group then we have to win tomorrow. BATE defend in a very organized manner; they are a young side who counter-attack very well. We have to play with
great intensity and especially technique.”
The former Cagliari boss insisted that finishing top of the group is not just an esteemed objective but it will help his team to face a relatively weaker side in the next round.
Milan played a brave draw against Barcelona in their opening UEFA Champions League game at the Camp Nou last month and will play them again in few weeks time. However, Allegri has warned his team not to think about the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604
game as yet and they must take every game as it comes.
“Coming top is not just a prestigious objective, but it will then allow us to take on a team that finishes second in another group. We have to take it one game at a time though. Let’s beat BATE and then think about Barcelona.”
BATE were thrashed 5-0 by Barcelona in their own backyard in their previous game of the Group H but Allegri believes that every day is a new day and the Belarusian side can upset them.
