Allen Iverson says he would do whatever it takes to get back into NBA – Basketball Update
Allen Iverson has revealed that he is looking to make a comeback into the NBA. Iverson last played in the NBA back in the 2009-2010 season and left to play in Turkey afterwards. He had spent most of his career with the Philadelphia
76ers. Iverson had been plagued by injuries during his time in Turkey and now after featuring in just 10 games for Turkish club Besiktas, the potential Hall of Famer has said he wants to come back to the NBA.
Allen Iverson (AI) certainly had a resume that would interest most teams in the NBA, but his off court issues cast a shadow over the player. Iverson is a name almost every basketball fan is familiar with. He is a former MVP and
led the league in scoring 4 times during his time in the NBA. Iverson is famous for being an explosive player. His outspoken personality and outlandish skills made him a cult favourite of basketball enthusiasts throughout the world. Iverson’s regular season
point’s average is the sixth highest in the history of the game. In playoff basketball Iverson averages an incredible 29.7 points per game, a feat surpassed only by Michael Jordan.
Iverson has had many iconic moments during his time in the NBA. The first was of course his famous crossover against Michael Jordan in his very first season. Coming closely behind, is his step over Tyronn Lue of the Los Angeles
Lakers in the NBA Finals 2001.
Now, Iverson wants to relive those moments and has declared his intention to return to the league he set alight for many a years. However, at 36 years of age, NBA teams might be hesitant over Iverson’s ability to perform at the
required high levels of fitness. The player himself has every confidence in his ability, just like he has had throughout his career,
"It's me," AI said, laughing. "That's what gives me confidence. I know what I can do. Everybody in the world knows what I can do. Everybody knows what I can do on the basketball court."
The player known as “the Answer” certainly could do a lot on the basketball court. At 6 feet Iverson is the shortest player in history to win an MVP award. He is also the lightest. However Iverson’s legendary feats on the court
are matched by the controversies he has endured. Iverson constantly clashed with coaches and officials during his time in the NBA. He was notorious for missing training sessions and he considered coming off the bench beneath him.
Still, Iverson says he is willing to do what it takes to get back playing basketball in the league,
"Just give me a training camp," he said. "Maybe I've rubbed people the wrong way as far as saying the things I've said in my life and in my career. But if any team needs me to help try and win a championship in any capacity, I'm
waiting."
It’s to be seen if any team will take him up on his offer.
