Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen has insisted that he is currently focused on helping Great Britain win the Gold medal in the ongoing Olympics football competition.
The 22-year-old prolific schemer is currently a source of contention between Liverpool and Swansea. The Reds have already seen their two proposals for the player get turned down by the latter, as the Welsh club are believed to be desperate in keeping him
at the Liberty Stadium.
However, according to some reports, given a deal fails to transpire between the two sides smoothly, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 will seek to trigger the 15 million pounds release clause in Allen’s contract with the Swans.
Despite all the rumours surrounding his possible future destination doing the rounds in media circles, the Welsh footballer maintained that he was focused on doing well with GB during the Olympic Games.
The host team made it into the last eight of the competition, following their 1-0 win against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Uruguay-c3035 on Wednesday night at the Millennium Stadium. Stuart Pearce’s men will take on South Korea in the quarterfinal on Saturday.
Talking of his Olympic experience so far, the midfielder is reported to have said: “The atmosphere against Uruguay was incredible. We have played in three fantastic stadiums in our three group games and they have been sold out with wonderful noisy fans…
We’ll look forward to hopefully putting on another performance like we did against Uruguay.”
Meanwhile, the Swansea City boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup has confirmed that he is yet to speak to the player in order to take his say on the whole transfer episode, but underscored that no ‘concrete’ development has been made as yet over his proposed move.
He then went on to acknowledge the exceptional talent of the 22-year old, and insisted that at the moment, he cannot say anything for sure regarding his future.
“We know he is a very good player, but I can assure you there’s nothing concrete at this moment. Let’s see what happens. I can’t really tell you anything else for the time being.”
Nonetheless, if some surmises are to be believed, Allen has already agreed to personal terms with Liverpool, and only a settlement between the sides is required to formalize his switch to Anfield.
