http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 midfielder, Joe Allen, believes that his side were unfortunate not to secure all three points against Sunderland in their previous match and that good things were just around the corner for them.
The former Swansea player also stated that his team wanted to win the game in the memory of the victims of the Hillsborough tragedy, after an investigation report was revealed on Wednesday, clearing the fans of the blame for the incident.
The Reds were on course for another defeat this season, after a first half goal from Steven Fletcher put the Black Cats in front.
However, a 71st minute strike from Luis Suarez restored parity, allowing the Anfield outfit a well deserved point.
Liverpool looked the better of the two teams for a considerable portion of the game. They were denied twice by the frame of the goal, and also scores of their attempts were saved by Simon Mignolet.
Anyhow, the 22-year old insisted that his side were a victim of bad fortune, and deserved to run away with all three points.
However, he refused to be downbeat despite their worst start to a season in almost 100 years, as he felt that good things were just around the corner for them.
“You want to be careful you don’t start making excuses and put too much down to luck. But there’s definitely an element of that at the moment, you can’t deny it,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“It seems to take the opposition one chance to get a goal and we keep plugging away and do everything right and it doesn’t click at times.”
Allen also unearthed that the team wanted to give the fans something to cheer about, following the findings of the Hillsborough investigation panel, and thanked the fans for their wonderful support throughout the game.
“It’s been a tough week and it’s unfortunate we couldn’t give the fans the three points, but they gave us fantastic support until the end,” he added.
Liverpool, who now have just 2 points from their first 4 matches, will play host to rivals, Manchester United on Sunday.
