Former Wales’ footballer, Ian Walsh believes that it was only a matter of time before the Swansea City midfielder, Joe Allen parts ways with the Welsh club to join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
The Reds boss, Brendan Rodgers is keen on acquiring the services of the 22-year old, who has previously remained under his supervision at Swansea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
According to some reports, the Merseyside club made an offer of 10 million pounds plus Jonjo Shelvey’s services on loan for the midfielder, which was rejected by the Swans.
Given the Reds fail to reach to an agreement with Swansea over the subject of the player’s transfer, they are expected to make use of the 15 million pounds release clause in his contract.
Allen, a veteran of 147 games for the Welsh club, has still got three years left on his contract with the Swans.
Nonetheless, despite the fact that the south http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 outfit were unwilling to let go of their prolific midfielder, Walsh felt that it was only a matter of time before the proposed move transpires. He opined that an offer from a club of Liverpool’s stature
will be too good to turn down for the young player, but admitted that the move will be a big setback for his current employers.
While talking to reporters, he said: “It seems at this stage it could be inevitable that Joe Allen will leave Swansea for Liverpool. It's a great opportunity for him but it's not the news that the Swans fans would have liked.”
However, the ex striker indicated that on the positive side, Allen’s transfer to Liverpool will strengthen the Swans financial position and hence, felt that the club should give it the green signal.
“To think that he's a home-grown talent, talking in the realms of £10-15m for a player that's played one season in the Premier League. It’s a vast amount of money. I'm not sure that Swansea, in the long term, could afford to turn that sort of money down.”
Allen joined the Swansea youth academy at a tender age of 9. During his stay at the Liberty Stadium so far, the midfielder has made 130 league appearances and netted 7 goals.
