This is a follow up to a question I asked the other day....this is what I asked...I have had the same wedding rings for 9 years. Suddenly, about 5 weeks ago I noticed an icky rash under my rings and it itched like crazy. I took my rings off, cleaned them and put cream on my finger. Left them off till it healed about 5 days then after wearing them just one day about 10 hours....broken out again. treated the rash and left the rings off again about 5 days didn't wear them again until it was healed and after a couple of hours my finger was broken out again. Is it possible to suddenly be allergic to the white gold in the rings? Does anyone have any other suggestions? I wear another ring on my ring finger of my right hand and never have any trouble. Suggestions?

MY QUESTION NOW IS WHAT DO I WEAR FOR A WEDDING RING/BAND IS THERE SOMETHING PARTICULAR OR DO I JUST NOT GET TO WEAR IT ANY LONGER???

  1. try platnium?

It's funny how we take for granted that our bodies will stay the same but they're always changing.

sorry that you're upset...it's emotional but be rational....

  2. by a titanium wedding ring. Titanium is hypo-allergenic and you will not have allergies to it.

  3. get a chain, if you preffer to wear it close to your heart, then wear it around your neck. If you prefer to wear it near your hands wear it as a braclet. Otherwise, go get it checked at the doctor

  4. Go to the doctor

You may be allergic to nickel

If not, you may just really have to clean it. Metals are funny, they can react with something you've put on your hands recently. Maybe you changed soaps or lotions?

All those things can contribute. Make sure you're cleaning your finger daily. I know that I get rashes and irritation from my rings sometimes, but i think its just from bacteria getting underneath and growing in the sweat that can be underneath.

also did you gain weight? There could be a little bit more pressure inside there.. more sweat, more bacteria, no fun.

But, if it turns out you're allergic to nickel, you can always get Titanium, but remember to buy the exact correct size, you can't have them resized.

  5. I have a terrible metal allergy and I paint the inside of rings/earring posts with clear nail polish. I've never had a problem, but I do add coats every few months just in case.

  6. you need to put clear finger nail polish on the inside of your rings to keep the ring itself away from your skin. you can become allergic to anything at anytime. i became allergic to gold it seems like over night. i wore a pair of gold hoop earring that had belonged to my mother many years ago. one day i had a dermitus rash on the left side of my face by the earring. i took the erring out and replaced it with sterling silver and had no more problems.

  7. Is the metal the same? I have never heard of some one being allergic to gold.  I get a black ring around my finger, under my gold wedding band and I thought that only happened with cheap metals, but I know it's gold.  Someone told me it was because of what you eat and a reaction to it.  Put the wedding band on the other hand & see what happens.  You could also have a skin condition that is only present on that hand.  Maybe you have to wear yellow gold,  I am not sure what the elemental differance is, or if there is one.  Try seeing a dermatologist.

  8. you could always get a band tattooed on.

    i think that's pretty awesome.

    but not for most people.

if you are allergic, there isn't anything you really can do.

take it off for a little bit [week or so] and attempt to put it back on.

  9. well first we need to know what the ring is made of cause then you might want to  try a different metal like silver, gold platinum. try one of those! you can get you ring coated with one of those!

  10. That is funny because I just found out I am allergic to gold (and nickel). I was patch tested and came up reactive to 13 different chemicals out of 77. The nurse in the dermatology office told me that instead of gold I can wear platinum, platinum coated, or rhodium coated. I don't know much about these coatings but I guess it is worth a try.

  11. put it around your neck. on a chain

  12. That's odd. See a dermatologist to see if it is REALLY the metal or something else. I have had rashes under my ring before, but is wasn't the ring.

  13. You could always wear it around your neck on a chain.....

  14. My sister is allergic to yellow gold, therefore she had to wear silver rings. I am allergic to silver!!!!!!! We're the opposite, I'm also allergic to stainless steel, which all watch's backs are stainless steel, so I cannot wear a watch, which bites. What you CAN do, is, line the inside of your rings with a thin piece of clear tape, it won't show up and it'll keep the metal from touching your finger. You can also very well coat the inside of your rings with clear nail polish, but you'll have to repeat that every now and then. I go through this too, that itch is horrible. For years, under the watch face, my wrist would be terrible, even doctors told me that nobody was allergic to stainless steel, well, I am! I'd dig and dig until it bled, now I use tape, lol

  15. if you're allergic to white gold then try a different metal.  titanium, platinum, etc.
