Question:

Allergic to my wedding band?

I've been wearing my wedding ring for about a year and a half--about ten months ago I got pregnant and had our second son. Halfway through the pregnancy, I became allergic to my wedding ring--little red bumps would appear and they are super itchy!

I thought it had something to do with my hormones, so I stopped wearing it. Well, it's been a month since I had my son and I wore my ring yesterday--lo and behold, I broke out again!!

I LOVE my ring--it's very expensive as well. I can't just not wear it. What can I do?

It's 14k white gold btw.

  1. You should take it to a jeweler.  It sounds like it is not real 14K gold.

  2. try putting some sort of clear coating on the part of the ring that directly touches your skin, you may be able to buy a good one in a jewelery store. you can also use clear nail polish but i dont know if i would want to put that on an expensive ring.

  3. Just a thought.  Could it be that when you wash your hands you are not getting the soap out from under your ring?  Have you changed soaps?  Dish, hand, or hand cream?

I might try putting baby powder on my hands, and then putting on the ring.
