Question:

Allergies from my car - whenever I sit in it for a while, I sneeze and get a runny nose. How can I fix this?

I'm pretty sure it's because my tail light leaks rainwater into my trunk, so I think it is an issue due to moisture and thus mildew. Is there a quick, safe way to get rid of these spores, or am I missing the true cause of the allergens? I have a 1991 Honda Accord, and I've talked to other owners who say their tail lights leak water, so I suspect this could be a somewhat common problem.

  1. Go and see if the leaking tail light can be fixed, that would be my first thing to do.

Ok, so maybe you can't afford that?

You can't fix it then. You can kill mold right now, but if it rains it will start again. Maybe put a car cover over your car?? so it can't leak in there?

Quick and easy way to kill mold... go get white vinegar and some oil of lavendar. About 20 drops if lavendar, a cup of white vinegar and a cup of water. Mix together and spray down the rug.

But until you get the leak fixed, you'll continue to have problems.

If you get the leak resolved, then you can leave damp rid in your cars trunk every night (don't drive aroudn with it in there) and hopefully you'll get the dampness out of the trunk compltely. But won't work if it's goign to leak more daily.

  2. Well, if you see the spores then clean them with a house hold mold killer, but nothing too powerful so you don't get holes burnt in your carpet.

Also, if the past owner(s) was a smoker, and the ENTIRE inside was not cleaned really well , that will also mess with your allergies.
