Allison Brown dominates Women’s 400m IM prelims – Speedo Junior National Championships
Allison Brown of Pleasanton Seahawks dominated the qualifying rounds of Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on day two of the 2012 Speedo Junior National Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Tuesday, August 14.
The 18-year-old Brown remained in a considerable lead over her opponents throughout the swim and outperformed her opponents on the finishing end for fastest qualification spot in a comfortable manner.
With her fascinating pace, she remained a body length ahead of her closest swimmer and tapped the finishing end with a time of 4 minutes and 52.63 seconds.
Her scintillating effort remained 0.81 seconds slower from her following swimmer, Margaret D’Innocenzo of Crimson Aquatics, who occupied second best qualification spot of the event by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 53.44 seconds.
D’Innocenzo was trailed by Allie Szekely of Central Bucks Swim Team, who remained 0.37 seconds slower from overpowering her foregoing finisher and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 53.81 seconds.
Szekely was followed by Katelyn Miller of Firestone Akron, who remained almost 0.80 seconds slower and posted a time of 4 minutes and 54.65 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth fastest qualification spot of the event was obtained by Kimberly Williams of Bellevue Club Swim Team, who was only 0.05 seconds apart and reported an effort of 4 minutes and 54.70 seconds.
Williams was chased by Elizabeth Zeiger of Bluefish Swim Club, who remained nearly three body lengths behind and submitted a time of 4 minutes and 57.13 seconds for sixth position.
The 14-year-old Zeiger was chased by Katherine Drabot of Ozaukee Aquatics, who was only 0.11 seconds slower and made her way to the final round as seventh fastest swimmer by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 57.24 seconds.
Last qualification spot of the race was obtained by Taylor Katz of Sarasota YMCA Sharks, who was just 0.04 seconds apart and touched the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 57.28 seconds.
Brown was extremely happy with her fastest qualification effort in the distant IM discipline and stated that she would struggle hard to achieve gold medal in the final.
