Allison Schmitt and Chad Le Clos impress in Moscow: 2011 FINA World Cup
Day two of the 2011 FINA World Cup series saw impressive swims of Allison Schmitt of United States and Chad Le Clos of South Africa in Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday, October 19. The session of the meet conducted the Women’s 400m freestyle and Men’s 200m Individual
Medley final heats.
Schmitt beat her strongest rivals, Elena Sokolova of Russia and Chelsea Chenault of United States in a neck-to-neck battle by posting a thrilling time of 4 minutes and 02.23 seconds to win the 400m freestyle title. Meanwhile, Sokolova earned silver medal
in a time of 4 minutes and 02.35 seconds and Chenault settled for bronze title in a time of 4 minutes and 05.17 seconds.
Ksenia Yuskova of Russia earned fourth place by posting a time of 4 minutes and 14.08 seconds, while Valeriya Kolotushkina of Russia settled for fifth spot in a time of 4 minutes and 16.20 seconds. Additionally, Kira Volodina of Russia was placed at sixth
position in a time of 4 minutes and 17.40 seconds and Alena Kudryashova of Russia settled for seventh place in a time of 4 minutes and 18.09 seconds. Moreover, Irina Arzhantseva of Russia picked eighth position with a time of 4 minutes and 19.76 seconds.
In the meantime, Chad Le Clos picked up the Men’s 200m Individual Medley title by posting a thrilling time of 1 minute and 55.26 seconds and Hidemasa Sano of Japan earned silver medal by submitting a mark of 1 minute and 55.60 seconds. The bronze title went
to Daiya Seto of Japan with a mark of 1 minute and 55.86 seconds. Dmitry Zhilin of Russia earned fourth spot with a time of 1 minute and 57.00 seconds, while Kazuki Otsuka of Japan settled for fifth place in 1 minute and 58.12 seconds.
Diogo Carvalho of Portugal finished sixth with a time of 1 minute and 58.43 seconds, whereas, Dmitry Gorbunov of Russia claimed seventh spot with a mark of 2 minutes and 00.27 seconds. Last, but not the least, Ivan Pavlov of Russia picked eighth position
with a time of 2 minutes and 01.22 seconds.
