Allison Schmitt grabs Women’s 200m freestyle gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Allison Schmitt of North Baltimore grabbed gold medal of the Women’s 200m freestyle on the opening day of the 2013 Arena Grand Prix at Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte on Friday, May 10.
The 22-year-old Allison devastated hopes of her opponents in the 200m discipline and cruised her way towards the finishing end for gold medal.
She remained a full body length ahead of her closest competitor as she tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 58.76 seconds for gold medal.
Her gold winning effort remained almost 0.80 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for first position by touching the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 58.76 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Chloe Sutton of Mission Viejo Nadadores, who was 0.74 seconds behind and touched the wall for second position by producing an effort 1 minute and 59.50 seconds.
The second best finisher was followed by Leah Smith of Jewish Community, who was only 0.12 seconds behind and hit the wall by producing a time of 1 minute and 59.62 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth finest spot of the race was obtained by Shannon Vreeland of Athens Bulldog Swim, who was nearly 0.70 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 38 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was secured by Sam Cheverton of Una OSU, who stayed 0.61 seconds slower and surfaced on the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 00.99 seconds.
Cheverton was chased by Jordan Mattern of Athens Bulldog Swim Club, who was 1.32 seconds behind and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 01.31 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was obtained by Danielle Siverland of North Carolina, who was 0.03 seconds behind and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 01.34 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Elizabeth Beisel of Bluefish Swim Club, who ended her race in a time of 2 minutes and 04.67 seconds.
Furthermore, Schmitt was happy with her top finish and collected her medal after the session.
