Allister Coetzee lists Western Province’s match day squad for Currie Cup semi-final against Golden Lions – Rugby News
South African provincial Rugby Union side, Western Province’s head coach, Allister Coetzee has announced his match day squad for their upcoming weekend encounter against the Golden Lions. Lions
will host the Western Province in the semi-final of the 2011 ABSA Currie Cup competition at Coca-Cola Park, Johannesburg on Saturday, October 22.
Coetzee has listed his squad on Wednesday, October 19. The squad marks the return of five Springboks international player in the Province’s starting xv, for their knockout game against the
2011 Currie Cup leaders, Golden Lions.
Western Province secured the position in the play-offs of the competition after they finished fourth on the 2011 Currie Cup table. Province faced stiff competition from the Blue Bulls and Griquas
for fourth semifinalist of the competition.
Coetzee has made four changes in the Province squad, as compared to the one, which took the field against the Pumas at Newlands, Cape Town on Saturday, October 15. Province defeated Pumas 43
– 18, as the bonus point victory helped them to finish fourth on the table.
Coetzee has named Schalk Burger as the captain of the Province side for their must win game against the Lions on the weekend. Burger has taken the captaincy from Jean de Villiers. Burger will
start the match at the flanker position, while De Villiers will start the match from the centre position.
Burger replaced Pieter Louw on the flank, which pushed Louw to start the match from the bench. In other changes, Hilton Lobberts is dropped from the match day 22 making way for the De Kock
Steenkamp, who will start the match at the lock position. 
Additionally, Dean Fourie is dropped to the bench, making way for the Tiaan Liebenberg in the starting xv.
