Werder Bremen General Manager Klaus Allofs has insisted that the club will not make any new signings in the January transfer window.
Die Werderaner have had an impressive season so far and currently sit in fifth place on the Bundesliga standings table with 29 points in the first-half of the campaign. They have won nine out of the 17 games played and have tasted
defeat six times thus far. Thomas Schaaf’s side is eight points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich, who sit at the top of the table.
Klaus Allofs ruled out any possibility of signing new players in this winter transfer window. He insisted that Bremen has a perfect squad and do not need any acquisitions this winter. The chief added that the Green-Whites have
a very competitive squad and there is strong competition for places in all positions and added that there are no weak links whatsoever.
“We do not plan to make any action during the transfer window. We have a big enough squad. We do not plan to change. We are well prepared on any position,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Werder Bremen striker claimed admitted that his side had shown interest in Austrian international Zlatko Junuzovic but stated that there is no work on the move as of yet and the transfer could possibly take place in
the summer this year.
He further added that the player has also been linked to other clubs in the Bundesliga and it is possible that he may make a move to one of them. Junuzovic will be on a free transfer at the end of the season at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Austria-c2844 Wien and
Bremen would prefer to sign him on a free rather than paying a considerable amount of transfer fee.
“We have been looking at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatko-Junuzovic-c38036, just like other clubs. It is too early to say anything concrete on that,” he concluded.
Werder Bremen will face a tough task against FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga when they return from the winter break. They will take on the Red Devils at the Fritz-Walter Stadium on Saturday, January 21, in search of their 10th
win in the league this season.
