We have students that come to our house from japan and they abuse the shower by spending 40 minutes in them. Are there timers you can get for house showers?

  1. I would check with your local home depot or lowes and see if they have timers. I would think so since they have timers for watering your yard. If you can't find one for the shower, ask if the yard timer could be used as a subsitute. Might work.

  2. you can get a regular kitchen timer, those white ones that you turn and it ticks then rings when the time is over. you can probably get them at the supermarket.

  3. 40 minutes is a long time for any water heater to provide hot water.  If you've got a tankless water heater, use the remote to turn down the temp after a reasonable period of time.

  4. turn the hot water off when they come. Guaranty they will make quick of scrubbing their asss.

  5. Just start alternatively turning on hot and then cold water at a different source, preferably one with a high rate of flow like another bathtub.  They'll get the message.

Follow up with this statement,  "Oops! sorry, I was just cleaning some dishes.  I didn't realize you were STILL in the shower."

  6. try giving them a few "friendly" instructions/reminders upon entrance to the house

  7. You can get a water timer that has a suction cup and attaches to the wall. You turn it over and the little grains of sand fall through and show you when the time is up. Or you can buy a device from several different sites that restrict the water after a certain amount of time. Check out showermanager.com

  8. Ask them to help pay the water bill....
