Allowed to direct my model portfolio?

Question

if i was to arrange a portfolio for me, would i be allowed to dress and pose how i want? i dont mind been given directions i just wanted to know if i would be allowed a little input of my own?

If you know about lighting and fashion then by all means give your input. I am the same way, but I am also a photographer. So I like both sides. It depends on the type of picture it will be, the lind of make up where it will be taken. But sometimes when you use your own clothes you may feel more comfortable... Get a good feel for you photographer, what he will allow you to do and not do. It never hurts to ask.

Well, if you hire the photographer you might be able to specify what kind of pictures you want.

Some photographer allow it and some other not so you will have to ask directly

Absolutely - My wife modeled. She dictated how the sets were - the clothes that she would and wouldn't wear, and the pictures that would be used. Of coarse she allowed direction, but if she didn't like it she defiantly let them know.

Also she would have the photographer sign either a no use, or ownership waiver. Meaning the photographer (or company he/she works for) cannot use her photographs without permission. When a company pays you for your shoot for let's say shoes or whatever. Without some sort of no use contract the company owns the pics and can use the pics in other stuff - even photo shop heads to other stuff for free usage in other ads.

If you get ownership of your photos they will absolutely not be used without you getting paid.

If you are good you can take control of all situations.
