Allways fitting a cat flap.?

Id like to draw attention to an Animal Rescue Centre in the Uk,

Like myself they insist on a cat being given the opportunity to come and go outside if its THEIR wish,

By a simple think such as a cat flap.

I think other than illness/blindness its so cruel to confine an animal indoors for 15/20 yrs.I don't care what breed they are, pedigree or not, Id still insist it was given the choice, Pedigree into a LARGE garden run if need be,

go to .Fresh fields Animal Rescue Centre.to see their right up.

I wont home any cat that's not going to have the choice to go out if its what it wants to do.I see so many poor House cats that go through rescues That once a baby comes along the cats not wanted, and as its all ways been indoors they are so upset to be moved.they have lost the only security they have known.its heartbreaking to see them.trying to adjust.

Please don't confine your cat,its needs are to roam

  1. ya ok i can see your point. i don't let my cats out. i've had cat's that got run over by cars and very expensive vet bills after cat fights. also i don't  want my cats pissing of neighbors digging in their gardens and stuff. oh ya a friend of mine that lives in a rural city, had raccoons coming and going through their catflap. the little ones came in, got some food and took it out to the older ones that were to big. pretty funny but not something i'd like to wake up to.

  2. yes i agree they should be given a choice. my cats love going outside, but some days they are lazy and sleep on the beds :)

  3. Could not agree more, well said.

  4. As a Brit, I agree that if it's a safe environment cats should be given the choice on whether they would like to spend time outdoors or not.  I have always provided my cats with a litter tray because I don't want them using neighbours' gardens as a toilet, and I want to keep an eye on any changes in their health, so I take issue with those who wrongly assume that people who allow their cats to spend time outside are too lazy to clean a litter tray.

  5. I get to see the other side of the coin.  Cats that have gone outside and come into the vet office and tested positive for Felv, Fiv, Fip, have gotten into fights and have been wounded by another cat or a dog.  I have seen cats hit by cars, and even one poor baby injured when he crawled into the car engine to keep warm- the owner did not know and started up the car- not pretty.

A very wise older client once told me, when I aked about his cat's lifestyle- the things I have learned is that an outdoor cat lives a shorter life, and increases the money I have to pay to my vet.

  6. it is a PROVEN FACT that outdoor cats die a premature, preventable and probably painful death.

it is also a PROVEN FACT that indoor cats live HAPPIER HEALTHIER and Safer lives

people who think their cat needs to go outside are just lazy cat owners that don't want to clean a litter box, which is not that difficult  and they don't want to provide a stimulating indoor environment for their cats.

  7. Always had a cat flap, live in UK.

Had cats got to 17, 18 and close to 20, not bad.

Because I know thw world is a dangerous place, we live in a cul-de-sac which means it's a little safer than a main road.

The argument that cats indoors live longer is not always true, but more importantly is what a cat is built to do, running free, scratching trees etc and even chasing wildlife (I'm sorry, and don't like it myself but it is what they're built for).

Why live long if you can't live large? Science is trying to find a way for me to live longer, but if I'm physically or mentally unable to live life and have joy, what's the point?
