Ally McCoist will succeed Walter Smith as the Rangers next manager (fixed headline) 
 
Ally McCoist will take over managerial duties from Walter Smith at the end of the season. McCoist is currently working as an assistant to Smith since 2007.
"First and foremost Ally is a passionate Rangers supporter who has been a loyal servant to the Club both as a player and more recently Assistant Manager. He has contributed greatly
to our success over the past four years and that is why we feel he is the right man to replace Walter.” He told the Clubs Official Website.
"When Ally joined Walter as his assistant in January 2007 he was always being groomed as the next Manager. He is the unanimous choice of the Rangers Board to take the Club forward
next season and when I offered him the position in December - during our Champions League trip to Bursaspor - he agreed immediately.”
McCoist has enjoyed a good partnership with Walter Smith, and they have won six trophies and came runners up in the UEFA Cup.
McCoist who also played for
the Rangers, is their leading scorer of all time with staggering 355 goals in his 15 year career for
the Rangers. He played a pivotal role in Rangers domestic treble winning team when he scored 34 league goals in all competitions in 1991-92.
The Scott scored 49 goals in 52 appearances in the following season and won the Golden Boot award second year in running.
He made 61 appearances for Scotland and scored 19 goals and was country’s fifth highest goal scorer of all time. His career was marred by injuries, which kept him out of action
for long periods.
Rangers are having a disappointing campaign this season, as they are eight points behind leaders Celtic. Rangers have won the last two league titles and look likely to miss out
on three in a row. They also had a disappointing UEFA Champion’s League this season, as they were knocked out of the group stages after finishing third behind Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863. They have qualified for the fifth round of the Scottish Cup, where
they drew 2-2 against rivals Celtic and will play a replay on 2nd March.
