Allyson Felix all set to prevail at the IAAF Athletics World Championships in Daegu – Athletics news
Despite having more than one month to go, athletes today are experiencing the IAAF Athletics World championships fever, as they are toiling for restoring and retaining their form and fitness to live up to expectations at the global athletics event. One such
athlete, who is all set to prevail at the mega athletics event is Allyson Felix, the track and field sprinter who represents United State in 200m runs.
The Los Angeles born 25-year-old athlete, who appears in 100m and 400m meets, is an Olympic silver medal winner in the 200m distance. Moreover, she is the only female runner to bag three gold medals at the Athletics World Championships. While competing for
the USA’s women’s 4x400 relay team, she earned a gold medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
For this upcoming athletics extravaganza, the athlete is also planning to compete for a title in the 400m. However, she has not contemplated upon the idea seriously as yet and is expected to decide upon it just ahead of the commencement of the event. While
unearthing her plans for the world championships, Felix shared her feelings on a sports website where she wrote, “I am on my way to Italy to run the 4 x 100m Relay with the United States relay team in Lignano. It’s rare that we have a chance to race together
outside of major championships so I’m looking forward to a great time with my teammates.”
Besides the said event, she said, her next target will be to prevail at the 200m meet in Monaco which is to commence on July 22. To her, both of these events will not only extend an opportunity for her to get trained, but also to test her potential while
encountering some of the most formidable athletes on the tracks. Talking about how she has been preparing herself for the big event under the guidance of her coach, she stated, “I haven’t raced since running in the 400m in the USA Championships on 26 June.
The rounds of the 400m were tough, but my coach Bobby Kersee did a great job of having me prepared for them. All of those hard training days paid dividends through the rounds.”
She added that she had a great respect for all 400m runners, as she was well aware of the fact that how toiling it was to contest for the strenuous contest.
