Allyson Felix has a busy schedule despite the respite from training sessions
Allyson Felix, the 25-year-old American athlete, specialist in track and field sprinting, while expressing her thoughts in her online diary, said that despite having a break from a hectic training schedule, she could not get a break from constant travelling.
After returning from a tour involving charity work, the young girl said that she was going to resume with her preparations for the 2012 London Olympics at the earliest.
The two-time silver medallist in Olympics in the 200m distance said, “I definitely enjoyed my break from training after the World Championships. I feel rejuvenated and refreshed and ready to tackle this very intense year. I’m also just so excited about this
whole year”.
Felix, the only female ever to bag the gold medal in Athletics World Championships three times in a row, said that she was already back to her training schedule.
Felix, the expert in 200m contests, along with 100m and 400m distances, found it slightly difficult to get back into the swing after her return. However, she was happy to overcome the initial stumbling blocks and excited for getting things underway.
While commenting on her recent activities, the winner of the gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics said, “I recently returned from Lebanon, the Palestinian territories and Jerusalem and had a phenomenal time. I'm an athlete Ambassador for Right to Play,
an organisation that uses sports to help children with development, health and peace”.
Felix, who is also a member of the USA’s women’s 4x400m team, further commented that during the past few days, she had observed an entirely different side of the world.
However, she expressed contentment over the fact that she could spare some time to engage in charity work. Working for children was no less than a passion for her.
Besides her occupation with routine activities, she also spoke at a track team dinner that was arranged by USC’s Athletic Director, Pat Haden, and Coach Ron Allice. While highlighting the difficulties encountered by young professional athletes, Felix advocated
quality education to be given priority.
She said that she loved her school, and that she would never hesitate to show her spirit for it any time she got a chance to, which is why she still partakes in school events.
