Allyson Felix to focus on major competitions – Athletics news
Allyson Felix, the 25-year old track and field sprinter from America who specialises in the 200m run and has lately been to Asia and Europe for various competitions, is now all set to concentrate on major contests. The titles she vows to bag are comprised of the Eugene’s Samsung Diamond League and the US National Championships, which will kick-off by the end of this month.
During an encounter with the media at Eugene, the young girl said that she is ready to appear in the Prefontaine Classic, which will commence on Saturday, June 4. Showing up at the track, she will run for a 400m contest at Preforntaine, while on June 11, she is planning to run the 200m meet in New York.
Talking about her recent activities which had been the focus of her intentions, the two-time Olympic silver medallist in the 200m run said, “I returned home a week ago after being on the road for about a month. I went from Penn, to New York City to train for a few days, then to Doha, Daegu, Manchester, Monaco for another training period and ended it up with Rome.”
Adding up to her remarks, Felix, the only woman ever to bag the Athletics World Championships gold medal thrice, said that she had prepared herself for big events only by concentrating on her races and trainings. To her, being on the track had always made it easy for her to quell the distracting thoughts and to focus on competition. She said that while completely regarding the importance of daily workouts in maintaining her fitness, she had been strictly adhering to her competition schedule. She also admitted that in an attempt to raise the bar of her performance, every time she got some free time, she would go for intense trainings which had always paid the dividends for her.
The Beijing Olympics gold medallist further stated, “I’m pleased with the way my season is beginning. It’s going to be a long year so I’m looking forward to progressing with my ultimate goal being World Championships.” She added that she had a splendid time at the Penn Relays, where she had enjoyed the presence of one of the most enthusiastic crowed in the United States. She said that the attendance of a supportive crowed had made the race exciting for her.
