Almami Moreira backs Arsenal to go all the way; Lukasz Fabianski remains realistic
FK Partizan’s Almami Moreira is impressed by Arsenal FC after he faced them in mid-week and has predicted that the English side will go all the way to the final of the UEFA Champions League, this season.
Arsenal had to win their game against FK Partizan to confirm their place in the knockout round of the competition. The north-Londoners beat the Serbian outfit 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night; thanks to the 2nd half
strikes from Theo Walcott and Samir Nasri, the home team successfully managed to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Almami was inspired by the free-flowing passing and expressive play that has become the signature of the Gunners’ game. Moreira was also moved by the team spirit and compatibility between the Arsenal players.
He said, “Arsenal are a great team and, after Barcelona, they are the ones playing the most beautiful football. Because of that I believe they can go all the way to the final. It's the team that is most impressive about Arsenal,
although I would pick out Nasri as one of their better players along with Fabregas. When one player doesn't do something, another player steps in to get it done. They are a fantastic group."
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, who stood between the posts during Arsenal’s triumph, was pleased after making it to the next round among Europe’s elite.
Fabianski was also glad to see the response from the attacking players after Partizan’s 52nd
minute equalizer.
Gunners, who finished 2nd in Group H, are likely to be paired up against tough continental opposition in the pre quarterfinal round. Arsenal may come across Real Madrid, FC Barcelona or Bayern Munich in the knockout
rounds and the Polish keeper was wary of the threat the big-European sides would pose.
He said, “When you look at the full 90 minutes, they did not really create another chance," he said.
"After the goal, we started to play more offensively, pushed on and scored two more goals.”
He added, “They are all tough teams in the Champions League. It's not an easy competition. Whoever we play next will be difficult."
Now, Arsenal have to turn their attention to the English Premier League, where they travel to Old Trafford on Monday to lock horns with archrivals Manchester United.
