Almeria shot-stopper, Diego Alves, has put pen to paper on a deal with Valencia, signing a four-year deal with fellow La Liga side which will keep him at Mestalla until 2015.
Almeria could not hang on to their goalkeeper following their relegation from the Spanish Primera Liga. Almeria finished last on the table with only six victories in the 2010/11 La Liga season.
On the other hand, Valencia seem to have found a perfect replacement of their experienced goalkeeper, Cesar Sanchez, who joined Villarreal after his contract expired at the end of the latest season. Valencia are strengthening their squad after an impressive
season where the qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League, courtesy a third-place finish on the table.
The Brazilian, who started his professional career with Atletico Mineiro in 2004, considers the transfer a dream come true.
“I have fulfilled a dream by signing for a big European club in the Champions League. Valencia have been my goal ever since I knew of their interest. I arrive with desire, ambition and humility and look forward to giving everything for the club and their
fans.” Alves said while talking to official Valencia website.
Reports suggest that Valencia have hired the services of Brazilian international for a fee that is in the region of €3 million. Alves, in a four-season spell with Almeria, featured in 33 matches this past season.
“I am leaving behind a great professional and personal experience. I want to thank everybody at Valencia and I wish the best to the team.” Cesar Sanchez confirmed his departure and thanked the team management for the support they had given him during his
stay.
