Almeria vs. Barcelona - Full Time Report
The Catalan side were already leading with five goals after the first half and there was definitely no way that a bottom of the table side like Almeria, who have never actually beaten the Catalan giants in the history of Spanish La Liga,
would come back from a five goal advantage that was taken by Barcelona.
If the first half was full of action from the Spanish Champions, the second half was nothing less. As the teams took their positions on the pitch during the second half, Barcelona had 5 goals to their names with Lionel Messi having a brace
to his name.
When the second half started, Almeria didn’t change anything on the pitch and Guardiola was the only one who took the opportunity to save the important players for his side. Obviously Xavi Hernandez was the first one to be replaced as
the second half started and it was Seydou Keita who took his position in the midfield as the Spanish midfield maestro took his position on the bench. The second substitution that took place was between Andres Iniesta and the young Spanish born Brazilian youngster
Thiago Alacantara who took the role of a centre midfielder for the Catalan giants.
The chances kept on flying for the Spanish Champions and it was the newly introduced Bojan Krkic who came on for Pedro Rodriguez who managed to find the net with the help of David Villa. The Barcelona number 7 swiftly passed the ball from
between the Almeria defence towards Bojan who easily planted the ball into the net to make it 0-6 in Barcelona’s favour.
With Almeria trying to waste time, the Catalan giants were ready to go for more and they made no mistake in most of the attacks that they made on Almeria’s goal and found the net most of the times.
It was Lionel Messi who was assisted by David Villa and scored his hat trick only after three minutes when Bojan scored. David Villa got the ball right outside the 18 yard box as Bojan passed it back towards him from the penalty area.
The ball deflected off the Almeria goalkeeper and Lionel Messi was quick enough to reach and ran towards the ball to tap it into the goal to score the hat trick that he was looking for since the first half. With that goal Lionel Messi’s tally went up to 13
goals, more than any other striker in the Spanish La Liga.
Minutes later, it was Bojan Krkic who was assisted by Lionel Messi as he found the net once again coming on from the bench. The Argentinean striker made a run from the midfield and found Bojan triggering forward from the left flank. The
Barcelona number 10 made no mistake in playing him the through ball which was simply a tap in for Bojan and the Spanish youngster made no mistake as he easily shot the ball into the net to make the score line simply unusual.
With Barcelona leading the game and a victory simply confirmed after the 8 goal haul on Almeria, the Catalan giants decided to play the ball amongst themselves as they kept on passing the ball to keep the possession. After 18 minutes of
possession play the referee decided to put Almeria out of their misery as the match ended 0-8 in favour of the visiting side Barcelona who simply outclassed the bottom of the table side Almeria.
