So school is almost starting. I had summer homework to do and I'm having trouble with one of the questions. Do you know how to do this question?

This is the question: [p.s. I'm going into the 5th grade]

In one week, Mr.Mustang bought 12 gallons of gas for $2.72 per gallon and 13.5 gallons for $2.75 per gallon. How much did he spend on gas in one week?

Can you help me figure this out!

Thanks to anyone who gives a real answer!

  1. You will be using multiplication and addition

    12 gallons at 2.72 per gallon

    12X2.72= $32.64

    and

    13.5X2.75=$37.13

    One week total is $32.64+$37.13=$69.77 Total

  2. 1. 12*2.72=32.64

         13.5*2.75=37.125

    sum=69.765

    2. maby yu need tu bi a kalkulater...from 1 tu 5$

  3. This is a multiplication and addition problem.

    First multiply 12 gallons times 2.72 dollars: 12 x 2.72 = 32.64

    Then multiply 13.5 gallons times 2.75 dollares: 13.5 x 2.75 = 37.125

    Now add the two results: 32.64 + 37.125 = 69.765

  4. total spent on gas in one week is

    (12 x 2.72) + (13.5 x 2.75) =

      32.64       +    37.125      =69.765

    the answer is 69.765 so you then round it to the nearest decimel which is

    69.77 dollars

  5. 12 * 2.72  + 13.5 * 2.75 = 32.64 + 37.125 = $69.765

    Since there is no such thing as half a cent, this problem wasn't well crafted by the author.

  6. get a tutor?

  7. 12 gal. @ $2.72/gal.

    = 12 x 2.72

    = $32.64

    13.5 gal. @ $2.75/gal.

    = 13.5 x 2.75

    = $37.13

    Total: $32.64 + $37.13 = $69.77

  8. They want to know how much money he spent on gas.  If he bought 12 gallons for $2.72 a gallon, then multiply 12 X 2.72

    and save the results.

    Then he bought 13.5 gallons at $2.75 per gallon so multiply 13.5 X 2.75 and get the results. Then you add the results from both of your multiplications together and that is the total he spent on gas.

  9. $69.77 Total

  10.     Multiply

    12x2.72=32.64

    13.5x2.75=37.125

          Add

    32.64+37.13=$69.77

    He spend $69.77 on gas in one week
