Almost Volcanic to fire in Townviewfoods.com Novice 750 at Shelbourne Park
Almost Volcanic has never run over 750 yards, but considering his enormous talent and experience, it is quite easy to declare him favourite for the Townviewfoods.com Novice 750, scheduled to take place at Shelbourne Park on Wednesday, July 11th.
Davies’ charge registered his maiden success on March 22nd, when he won an A3 event with plenty of ease. The black dog ran superbly to bag the first prize by two and a half lengths. He has been running well in defeat since then, but this looks to be an ideal opportunity for him to get back to the winning ways.
On May 23rd, he ended up second behind Cabra Lee. The son of College Causeway was third in his last trip at this track. He is well capable of winning a race of this nature and thus, it would be a foolish move to look elsewhere for the winner.
The novice is all set to face a star-studded line-up including Cooleeney Rebel, Paddy O Prado, Shaws Bella, Totos Star and Paddock Bound. The €300 meeting will be kicked off at 20:55 (GMT).
Cooleeney Rebel was pretty impressive on his Shelbourne Park debut, when seizing the runner-up place behind Rockburst Misty last month. However, he was terrible in his previous appearance, as he completed the order of finish in an A2 meeting. After such an embarrassing loss, he is in no position to do anything special.
Totos Star does not have much knowledge about this track. So, he is unlikely to do any damage. Similar is the case with Shaws Bella, who is running at Shelbourne Park for the first time.
Paddock Bound is also making his first journey at this venue. So, there will be some pressure on him. Paddy O Prado is the most experienced hound in the line-up. He has not yet showed anything special at this level, but holds a few good wins under his belt.
Despite the fact that Almost Volcanic is not in the best of form at the moment, his decent experience at this track makes him the strongest candidate. He is expected to make the best of his skills and dominate the proceedings. Good luck to all the runners.
