  1. $42 is quite expensive for a 7 gallon tank. I got my 30 with two filters, a heater, and air pump for only $50 I would try to find something else, in fact you could almost buy a brand new 10 gallon starter kit for the same price as your 7 gallon.

My suggestion is go to your Local Fish Store and see if they have any used tanks with full set up they would be willing to sell you this is normall where you can find the best prices.

However if you get the 7 gallon I would only get one betta, 1-2 frogs and one snail.

If you got a 10 gallon the only thing you would be able to add is another frog. Although you could add more bettas I recommend having a little more experience before you do these. You would have to add 5 because female bettas in less than 5 are more likely  to fight. If you do this I suggest adding them all at one time. Start with the betta that appears to be the least aggressive give it 15 minutes then add the next least aggressive and give 15 minutes keeping doing this until all fish are added to the tank. The most aggressive fish should be added last. Keep a close eye on the fish for the next week and be prepared to remove any fish if any signs of severe aggression is spotted (small amounts of aggression should be expected) make sure your tank is heavily planted and enough hiding places exist for each fish. They will find their territory and more than likely defend that area of the tank. If you do this tank set up I do not recommend adding a frog though but a snail may still be okay.

  2. Snails are not a good idea, they either die out or infest your aquarium in days. The bettas might also be a problem in such a small tank. Why don't you.  Why don't you start out with some easier, schooling fish like some tetras or zebra danios, they both are very cool and easy to maintain. Maybe save the frogs for a bigger tank or when you get some more experience with fish

  3. Ok, you asked earlier a similar question 1/2 hour ago on what tank to buy.  Slow down.

Patience will greatly help, haste could kill the fish - you had better google search how to cycle the tank too.

First $42 for 7 gallon is fairly expensive for such a small aquarium.

1 gallon per inch of fish or with more aggressive species, such as betta, 3 gallon per fish to ease aggression levels.

    7 gallons would get you:

2 bettas with one small ramshorn/pondsnail or one frog.

one betta, 1-2 frogs, 1 mystery snail (brig, not cana)

one betta, 1 frog, 2 mystery snails (or several ramshorn snail - keep in mind ramshorn/pond snail will multiply fast)

  4. You can put all of those guys in there. The general rule is one inch of fish for every gallon of water. Female bettas are probably about two inches. So say you put two of those in there. You could then have three frogs which are about an inch each.

Snails...well, they do count towards overcrowding, but not very much. Don't put more than four snails in, but don't worry about it too much. The other thing to remember is that snails reproduce faster than rabbits, so keep that in mind.

Another thing to think about is this: Bettas are EXTREMELY hardy. I have no experience with female ones, but I know the males don't die easily, and I'm sure gender won't matter. So with that in mind they can probably take a little overcrowding--but NOT a lot. Snails are also hardy.

Now african dwarf frogs can be tricky. They are happier with more than one of them, but they sometimes won't eat if they aren't happy. Frogs are clean too. They shed their skin, but they really are clean animals. Their food can dirty up your water, but in reality they will also eat normal flake food, so you can feed them a little less frog food.

So, in conclusion, I think the maximum that I would put in there would be four frogs, three female bettas, and two or three snails. But with that many in there you might want to make sure to keep the tank clean with weekly water changes of 1/3 the water.

By the way, you have selected excellent pets for starting a tank.

  5. never do snails because they will multiply like you have never seen!!!! always remember when you go to buy fish, get fish from the same region, allow 1 inch of fish per gallon of water... 7 gallons = 7 inches of fish.. but first you need to start the ecosystem in the tank buy getting some little feeder fish to live in it first, these will most likely die but that is ok.. this will start the process then after a couple of weeks go get what ever you want!! (dont get cichlids) they will outgrow the tank very quickly!!
