hi guys. a lady at work gave me a little 4 inch aloe pup for graduation. i named him spike and have gotten really attached to him. I didn't realize you are not supposed to water him every day, and i think he is dying. i have a few questions.

1. he was bright green and firm, now he is soft and dark green. is there hope? (there is still one little bright green, firm leaf).

2. i live in a condo. he is on my patio outside where he gets sun in the Am and early afternoon. Is that ok?

3. when i planted him i saw he doesnt really have roots like ive seen on plants. He just has an L shaped orange thing. Is that normal?

4. he is currently in really moist soil. Should i take him out and let him dry out?

  1. QUICK get it out of the moist soil!  Go and get some cactus mix soil from Osh or Home Depot or where ever you can find it and re-plant it in that and leave it out in the sun.  You only need to water it about once a month.  As long as it is still showing green and with some firmness you still have some hope.  And it's a succulent so it's normal not really having roots.

  2. normal aloe plant, yes unplant it, let it dry out, that sounds like enough sun or put it in a sunny window.
