Alonso admits that Ronaldo is sidelined due to an ankle injury
There have been rumours around http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 that Cristiano Ronaldo is trying to shake off an ankle injury which he picked up after the derby game against Atletico Madrid. While many thought this news was a rumour, Xabi Alonso has recently confirmed that it is absolutely
true.
The Spanish midfielder talked about the Portuguese captain and told the press that his team-mate is currently struggling with a knock which he picked up against Atletico Madrid over the weekend.
Alonso also accepted the fact that Cristiano http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 has not made a return to training and he might not be playing against Sporting Gijon on Saturday.
Atletico Madrid’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 and he picked up an ankle injury over the weekend. The derby game was quite flaming as both the teams wanted to get the best of results. However, Madrid won the game and also the three important
points which kept them six points above Barcelona.
Despite Ronaldo’s injury, Mourinho expects the Portuguese winger to be back by Saturday, when Madrid are going to play Sporting Gijon.
After the game against Sporting Gijon, Madrid have to play their arch rivals Barcelona. Now the question arises whether Mourinho would risk his prolific goal scorer in the game against Gijon.
Xabi Alonso has confirmed the fact that Ronaldo is still sidelined. He said:
"He has not trained with the team, but hopefully he can get to the game against Gijon.”
While speaking about Perea’s tackle on the Portuguese star, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alonso-c5254 quoted:
“Perea’s tackle was hard, but luckily it's not as serious as it could have been. We accept that football is a contact sport, and that sometimes you receive bad tackles - and sometimes you make them. You just accept it.”
Real Madrid are currently performing phenomenally with Los Blancos and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 is right around the corner, Alonso has stated that his side
is not concerned about the fixture beyond Sporting Gijon. He said:
"I have great respect for Sporting Gijon. These three points are as valuable as the three points [against] Barcelona.”
He stated that his side is going to try and take all the teams one by one. He said:
"I understand that journalism is about anticipation, but our perspective is different: first Gijon, then Amsterdam to face Ajax, and finally El Clasico.”

Madrid haven’t lost a single game in the last thirteen which they have played in La Liga. Moreover, they are currently three points above Barcelona with a match in hand.
