The Spanish international has expressed that he is patiently waiting for Los Blancos to lift their 10th European title.
Real Madrid’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Xabi-Alonso-c37045 has his eyes firmly set in watching his club emerge triumphant from the UEFA Champions League.
The Santiago Bernabeu outfit have a record 9 European titles to their name, with only AC Milan coming close to this number with 7 titles.
However, it has been quite a while since the Spanish giants tasted victory in the prestigious tournament.
The last time Los Merengues lifted the Champions League trophy was back in 2002 as they defeated Bayer Leverkusen in the final, thanks to a spectacular goal by the legendary Zinedine Zidane.
Since then, the Whites have only managed to make it to the last four, and have missed out on a place in the final of the coveted competition.
However, after a fantastic performance this season, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alonso-c5254 is adamant that Jose Mourinho’s men have all it takes to be the champions of Europe once again.
The Spanish capital-based outfit were able to win their 32nd Spanish La Liga title this season, after a break of 3 years which saw their traditional rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 dominate the sport in the Iberian Peninsula.
The Catalans established their hegemony over Spanish football and won the title for the last three years consecutively. However, things were completely different this time around, as it was the Whites who celebrated a title triumph at the end of the season.
Mourinho’s men faced misfortune in this year’s European campaign, losing out to Bayern Munich in the semi-finals in a penalty shoot-out.
While talking to reporters, Xabi Alonso was quoted as saying:
"We had a brilliant championship campaign. We won the title with 100 points. And we also beat Barca. But next year I hope to win the Champions League. But we will work very hard to win the three major competitions: La Liga, the Champions League and the Copa
[del Rey]."
"I am very happy to be in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Indonesia-c2922. I have been so very warmly received. It was memorable because it is the first time I've been here."
Jose Mourinho has won the Champions League with Porto and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, and is now hopinig to do the same with the Spansh giants.
