Aloof reaching for a third in line win through the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Blue Wind Stakes at Naas
The Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Blue Wind Stakes will be held at Naas over a mile and two furlongs on Wednesday, 16th May. The race promises €50,375 for the winner on the line-up of six three-year and older thoroughbreds.
The contestants are quite competitive with a handful who has already posted their seasonal wins. However, the only entry to have ever raced at Naas is Aloof. Galileo’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Airwave, is among those who have already set their
footing firm into the new season.
She won the seasonal debut on 11th April in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 3YO Fillies Race at Dundalk over a mile and two and a half furlong. She was the 11/8 favourite winner coupled with W. M. Lordan and the two led the track
by 4 ¾ lengths.
Finishing the closest to the winner was Madhmoonah while taking up the third position was Devotion.
She performed impeccably in the final start of the previous season. The 4/6 favourite winner of the race was riding with N. G. McCullagh and had the final 1 ¼ lengths under command.
Taking their places beyond the wire and behind the winner were Shukhov and Khyber Pass.
Aloof’s only race at Naas was actually her career debut. She ended tenth on the track of twelve in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden on 6th July over six furlongs.
Today the three-year-old filly is racing the second outing of the season and it is also her second try at Naas. If she counters the challenge successfully today, then she will line-up three wins in a row.
Princess Highway and Shebella are the other two entries who have won recently, the prior has won the seasonal debut while the latter succeeded in her career debut.
Shebella, Dubai Destination’s three-year-old filly out of mare, Shibina, won the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 3YO Fillies Maiden on 29th March at Limerick over seven furlongs.
Princess Highway on the other hand claimed the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 3YO Fillies Maiden on 28th March at Leopardstown over a mile and two furlongs.
The race will not be a piece of cake for Aloof as she will need to put in all that she has for landing the race.
