Alor Setar is in Kedah state, during the seventies we follow our footballers there during the malaysia cup series, but now....aiyah.  Best of all take service 170 to Johor Baru and then connet a coach from there which is much cheaper because you're paying in malaysian ringgit

It's not far from the Thai border, only about 40kms I think. You could get a bus from the Malay border.
