The France midfielder admitted that Les Bleus were very defensive in their approach against Spain and players gave too much respect to their opponents
The Marseille midfielder conceded that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 del Bosque's side and that helped Spain as they played free flowing football and
dumped http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 out of the tournament.
A brace from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984. Defeat against the reigning champions was Les Bleus’ second in a row and Diarra believes that the victory would not have been so easy for La
Roja had France played an attacking game like their opponents.
“Well, we should obviously consider who were we playing against, a team that is very good at attacking.”
Diarra was an unused substitute in the quarter-final match and the Frenchman feels that his side were solid defensively but their forwards drew a disappointing figure in the match.
“We needed to be stronger at the back but without forgetting that we needed to attack as well. We needed to find that balance and we didn’t do it in the end.”
The 30-year-old expressed his disappointment over his side’s failure to beat Spain in the quarter-finals but admitted that Vicente del Bosque's team were the better team. The Frenchman stated that France had good share of chances in the second half but failed
to build onto those and that cost them in the end.
“It’s a disappointing to be out of the Euros, we played against a team which was better than us, individually and collectively. It’s still a shame because I feel that in the second half there was still a lot to play for and to pose them problems but that's
how it goes sometimes."
According to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alou-Diarra-c5259, Spain are favourites to lift the title and it would take a lot of commitment and positivity from any team to beat La Roja.
The France international said that the current French side is very young and players will learn a lot from this competition and the team is looking forward to the World Cup qualifiers.
