Alou Diarra criticised after defeat to Olympique Lyonnais – Ligue 1 news
Following their defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 at the Stade Gerland, Olympique de Marseille are now rock bottom in the Ligue 1 standings. To apply even more salt to the injury, Les Phoceens are yet to register a win in the Championelle as pressure mounts on
coach Didier Deschamps.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alou-Diarra-c5259 was brought to the Stade Velodrome from Bordeaux this summer as Deschamps looked to increase the depth in the midfield. The midfielder was one of Bordeaux’s best players last season and was touted for a good season with the
Rhone club.
However, things have been far from bright for the Frenchman who seemed all over the place as Lyon thumped Marseille 2-0 at home to go top of the Ligue 1 standings. Alou Diarra was unable to command things in the middle of the park.
The 30-year-old midfielder had a miserable first half at Stade Gerland and was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morgan-Amalfitano-c26799 during the interval. Amalfitano’s introduction along with Andre Ayew gave Marseille fresh impetuous but it was too late for the Rhone giants.
Reports now suggest that Deschamps is considering dropping the experienced midfielder. Diarra on the other hand has said that he will do better for the club in the future. While talking to media, Diarra admitted that he has not played that well but also
hit out at media for using him as a scapegoat.
“They say I was not at my best but when I look at my personal stats I win a lot of passes. When you are at the bottom of the table, you only consider ranking. I think they only judge me on the position of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127,” the Frenchman said while
talking to L’Equipe.
With a salary of 320,000 euros per month, Diarra will quickly need to find his form and turn things around for Marseille. Criticised by media and fans alike, the player will have to justify Marseille’s efforts in bringing him to the club and also making
him one of the highest paid players in the squad given the club’s much publicised financial woes.
