Ligue 1 outfit Girondins de Bordeaux midfielder, Alou Diarra, has indicated his desire of joining fellow Ligue 1 side, Olympique de Marseille.
The midfielder was talking to French football magazine, L’Equipe, following France’s 1-0 win over co-hosts of next year’s European Championship, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Poland-c2983. While talking to the journalists, the 29-year-old was not shy about his ambitions.
“Marseille has all ingredients to attract a player. It is a big and ambitious club that plays in the Champions League regularly. I would http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Love-c22466 to play there but I have not decided my future nor have I discussed it with anyone. Though I’m anxious to join the
club, I will be patient.” The player was reported as saying.
A few days earlier, Alou Diarra was linked to a move to ambitious Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint-Germain. Reports suggest that the ambitious Paris-based club is readying an offer for the former Bayern Munich man as they seek to rebuild the PSG side ahead of the
start of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 season. However, recent comments made by the France international suggest that he is more interested in playing for a club that offers him UEFA Champions League football, something he will not have with Bordeaux and PSG, who
would be featuring in UEFA Europa League next season.
Furthermore, it is believed that Marseille coach Didier Deschamps is a long-term admirer of the former Lyon man. Reports suggest that owner of Marseille, Margareta-Louis Dreyfus, has given the club 20 million Euros to sign new players in the transfer window,
an amount that would be more than sufficient to aid in the recruitment of the 29-year-old.
Signing Alou Diarra would definitely be a great move by Les Phoceens as the much-travelled Frenchman has a wealth of experience following his stints in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749. Since his arrival from Lyon in the summer of 2007, Alou Diarra has made 121 appearances
for Les Girondins and has scored 11 goals. The Frenchman has also become an integral part of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 national side since the appointment of Laurent Blanc as the national team coach, meaning whichever club gets his signature would be getting a highly experienced
player.
