  1. I am using Lifepac science right now and I really dislike it. While the information in the books is great they do make it boring. This opinion is only mine; I have heard of people who absolutely love it!

  2. First of all, you shouldn't give your children's names and ages out on a very public 'net forum!!!

Safety issue aside, I find Lifepacs to be very "light" and they only teach to one learning style - reading/bookwork.  They can get very monotonous and boring.  I've had a couple of sets over the years and end up returning them.  My son needs a lot more excitement in his curriculum.

You can get some for "free" on the PaperbackSwap site.  They are posted there all of the time.  You could get a teacher's guide and some of the sets and see how you like it.

  3. They are great if you want a workbook type program that your children can complete mostly independently.  You should probably supplement that work with read alouds and other activities to make it a bit more fun.  Here are some suggestions:

    Hope this helps!

  4. I used only one set and I really liked it.  I got a partial set from the used homeschool book store.   This style of curriculum really made my job easier.

If finances were not an issue, I would probably use them on some subjects now even though the format is not the best learning method for my son.   He learns more from a video than he does from reading.   We use lots of audio/video from online and library to educate him.

  5. I too got a partial set for Math and did not like it at all. I did use the Language Arts ones my first year and liked them. We tried Science and didn't like their approach.

Currently, my oldest is using the World History and it is OK. Make sure you do the extra activities in the teachers guide for a more rounded education. The only problem is you will have to research the answers for those activities yourself.

Bottom line is I wouldn't count on them for a whole curriculum, my kids would get bored with just workbooks all the time. They are a good resource though I believe.

  6. We tried them.  While I found some good info in them they are very much workbook/fill in the blank type books.     My kids found them very boring to sit and fill in.
