Alpha One and Franks A Million to fight for victory in Boundary Mill Maiden Chase
Alpha One and Franks A Million are likely to fight for victory in the Boundary Mill Maiden Chase at Catterick in England on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. The class-4 event has winning prize money of £3,574.
A total of six runners have been confirmed for the event, which is scheduled to start at 2:50 GMT. The going is expected to be good to soft and the entries confirmed are: Alpha One, Franks A Million, Noble Scholar, Earl Grez, Foot The Bill and Penton Hook.
Chris Grant’s trainee, Alpha One has been awarded with the best odds for winning. He has entered a couple of chase events until now, but failed to win any of them. However, he has a very good chance of winning today, as the rest of the participants are relatively
inexperienced.
The punters will be a touch hesitant over placing their bets on Alpha One’s victory, as he has been out of form recently.
The six-year-old gelding failed miserably in his previous outing at Newcastle, as he ended right at the bottom of the chart, after having entered the race as the favourite runner. His trainer will be expecting a much improved show today.
Alpha One will be partnered by seasoned jockey, James Reveley, who has won 62 races over hurdles. He is a very skilful rider, but needs to improve his strike rate in order to impress everyone.
Franks A Million, trained by Micky Hammond, will be another runner to watch out for. He has participated in just a couple of hurdles, but failed to win any. However, he did manage to end up as runner up in one of those races, which shows that he has the
potential of fighting for victories.
The best thing about the five-year-old gelding is that he is in good form at the moment. His last run was also at Catterick, where he finished runner up. This indicates that he has no problems running on this track and the bettors will be interested to put
their money on him.
Franks A Million will be ridden by Wilson Renwick, jockey who has earned 38 victories over hurdles.
Other than the top two favourites, no one else seems to be in a good position to win. However, no form of racing is predictable and anything can happen at Catterick today.
