  1. Your best bet is to get a box built to Alpine's specs. It won't be on an incline, but you will be able to see them just fine when you open your trunk! I personally had a pair of these for over a year, in a box built for a pair of old school Orion XTR 12's. This box was way too big for Type R's but the lows were amazing!! I recently put them in a Alpine spec box and I gained 8 decibels  on the meter!! No brainer!

  2. I have dealt with alpine subwoofers type R and I must say that if you build a box with an incline, then port the box with holes in the back of the box because there will be a smaller port option in the front of an inclined shape box. These subwoofers will hit better with ports and you will be more pleased. Inclined is a good way to go for sealed, but it makes no real difference. I have a regular custom ported box and it is straight box shaped and is very clearly visable to anybody that opens my trunk. In the end it's your call, and I believe that porting is the way to go!
