Alpine IDA-x100 and KCE-300BT

Question

I have got these 2 units connected but the bluetooth unit is not being recognised by the head unit, the instructions says to turn off the INT MUTE on the head unit in order for it to work, but in the setup menu the INT MUTE is not accessible. could this be the reason why the head unit is not seeing the KCE-300BT. They did work together when the connections on the KCE-300BT was earthed for a small period, after that nothing. What do i need to do next.The KCE-300BT is working as it connects upto my blackberry.
